Osteopathic Manipulative Technique

Osteopathic Manipulative Technique

At CORE MVMNT we provide hands on treatment in the form of osteopathy.

Founded in 1874 by the American physician Andrew Taylor Still, osteopathy is a manual therapy based on the principle that the wellbeing of an individual relies on the harmonious function between bones, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue.

Osteopaths use predominantly gentle spinal manipulation as well as stretching techniques to correct joint and muscle imbalances, allowing restoration of harmony within the patient’s body. The objective being the promotion of long-term health.

Osteopathy is different from physiotherapy and chiropractic care, although they all come under the same bracket of medicine and are very similar. However, how similar they are varies between each practitioner.

Patients may seek osteopathic care for a wide variety of
conditions other than back pain such as:
– generalised aches and pains
– arthritic pain
– neck pain
– headaches
– frozen shoulder
– sciatica
– minor sports injuries and tensions

Movement is a medicine for creating change in a person’s physical, emotional, and mental states.
